Waking up to the rain pouring down didn't make me too happy initially, but overall I had a great day. I knew I wasn't in the shape to really race today, so I decided to enjoy it the best I could, and enjoy relaxing and running with a different crowd. My brother-in-law, Jordan, was running his debut half marathon, so we decided to start out together. I had every intention of leaving him behind because I knew his training hadn't been great, but he definitely surprised me and we ran the race together from start to finish.

It was fun to relax this race. The Ogden Half marathon is my favorite race, and while I was slightly depressed to know I wasn't in the shape to repeat my past performances (1st in 2006, 2nd in 2007) I loved waking up before the sun. I even thought at the start that most mornings I would still be sleeping, and told myself to look at how much of the day I was wasting! I accepted the rain as I headed to the start line and actually enjoyed it until 2 minutes after I finished the race and started shivering.

Here are the splits:

7:58, 7:40, 7:39, 7:33, 7:19, 7:19, 7:41, 7:27, 7:20, 7:15, 7:34, 7:48, 7:39, 7:26 (for last 0.25)

My watch calculated the race at 13.25 miles. Glad I was able to break 1:40 and averaging 7:33 wasn't bad either.
